When Will The Pain Stop?

Almost everyone has incurred some type of injury in their life, whether it is a minor scrape or bruise, broken bones or torn ligaments and/or tendons that require surgical intervention for correction.  What many people don’t realize is the difference between a minor problem and the major ones that require skilled treatment.

Here are some helpful hints that can help you determine when to seek medical care:

1. Any injury that limits your activity level for more than 48 to 72 hours.
2. Progressive loss of range of motion/flexibility in the affected area.
3. Inability to bear weight on the injured side or forces an alteration in your normal walking pattern.
4. Progressive weakness in the injured joint or limb.
5. An audible “pop”, “snap”, or “crack” immediately followed by pain and/or swelling at the site.
6. Inability to perform or participate in daily activities, recreational sports, or work-related tasks.

If you have one or more of these symptoms, consult your doctor or physical therapist today and get started on the road to recovery.
